The visual identity of the anniversary City Day Moscow 870 was developed jointly with the Russia Designers Association and created based on the achievements of the Russian avant-garde and constructivism masters, who had already earned worldwide fame. A series of original textile ornaments designed by Soviet artists Varvara Stepanova and Lyubov Popova in 1923-24 formed the basis for the decorative patterns of the festival's visual identity.
The use of the Pattern design concept, which evokes associations with the era of constructivism, fully reflects the ideology of "Moscow – the City Where History Is Created": this particular and one of the most influential trends in the world art, aesthetics, architecture and design of the 20th century was created in Moscow in the 1920s.
